Single Tax Filing Status
Single You filing status is Single if you are unmarried, divorced, widowed, legally separated by court decree.
Married Filing Joint You must have filed a joint federal return to be eligible to file a joint state return. If one spouse changes residence during the taxable year, while the other spouse maintained status as a resident or nonresident during the entire taxable year, then this status should be used.
Married Filing Separate If you are married but filed separate federal returns, you MUST file separate state returns.
Head of Household Any person who filed as a head of household on his or her federal return.
Qualifying widow(er) A qualifying widow(er) with dependent child who filed a federal return with this status.
