If you don't owe any tax liability, you need not apply for extension. If you expect to owe tax, you may need to apply for an extension of time to file. To make the extension valid, you will need to estimate 90 percent of your expected tax, subtract the credits you expect to have, and pay any remaining amount due by April 15. Indiana also recognizes valid federal extension dates plus 30 days. If you have a federal extension, attach a copy of Form 4868 to your Indiana return when filing.
